So you are planning on applying to private school, and you need to take the SSAT. When is it administered? The SSAT is generally administered 9 times per year. Registration for the 2014-2015 academic school year SSAT opens August 1st. The upcoming test dates are:
October 18, 2014
November 15, 2014
December 13, 2014
January 10, 2015
February 7, 2015
March 7, 2015
April 25, 2015
June 13, 2015
Before taking one of these SSATs, here are a few things to keep in mind:
The last day you are able to register for an SSAT is three days before the test date. However, if you choose to wait, you will have to pay an additional fee. The fee increases two weeks before the test date, and goes up again a week before the test.
The best time to study for the SSAT obviously is the summer time. During the summer, you will have time to absorb information without the stress that will come with your admissions applications in the fall. So, you should study for the summer months and plan to take the SSAT in October or November. If it does not go as you would like, you will have time to retake it. Since private school application deadlines are early to mid January, you want to make sure that you have your test scores done by December.
The SSAT can be taken as many times as you would like, and you do not have to report the scores. So, if you are on the fence as to whether or not you should take an upcoming SSAT, do it! Since you do not have to report the score, you may as well get a feel for the test. Who knows, you might end up acing it!
If these test dates do not work for you, then it is possible to schedule a flex SSAT date. Flex SSAT tests are administered privately, usually through an education company or private school. A flex SSAT can be taken once per year. This is more common for international students who may not be able to schedule a regular SSAT.
