Frequently Asked Questions About the GRE

What’s on the GRE exam?

The GRE measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills, and the test consists of four sections. The first section is a writing section, and the other three are multiple-choice styled sections. One of the multiple choice sections tests verbal skills, another tests quantitative skills, and a third exam is an experimental section that is not included in the reported score. Test takers do not know which of the three multiple-choice sections is the experimental section, so you need to try your hardest on all of the sections. The entire test procedure takes about 4 hours. (You can learn more about the exact breakdown of the test on here.)  Our GRE Tutors know exactly how to prepare you for the Graduate Record Examinations.

The GRE computer adaptive sections

The GRE computer adaptive test is a responsive, flexible framework which tests your ability to answer questions correctly in short increments.   The algorithm used gets gradually more difficult as you answer more questions correctly.

We work with many future Masters and Ph.D. admissions applicants to help them better understand how to tackle the GRE’s adaptive format.  We’ll help you respond to the algorithm the test makers have created.
